Recreation McCloud

Fishing:  Some of the nation’s premier fly-fishing waters are located in the area around McCloud and include  McCloud River, Sacramento River, Fall River, Hat Creek, Pit River, Klamath River, Feather River and the Yuba River, as well as McCloud Reservoir, Lewiston Lake, Keswick Reservoir, Iron Canyon Reservoir and Baum Lake.  Other popular fishing destinations include Cantara Loop, Lake Siskiyou, Castle Lake and Dunsmuir Access points.

Downhill Skiing: Mt. Shasta Ski and Board Park is located just a few miles from the property and offers 425 acres of skiable terrain, 1,390 feet of vertical, 32 trails, 3 triple chairs, night skiing, and terrain parks for beginners and intermediate/advanced snow boarders.  There is a full-service ski school. 
Nordic Skiing:  For cross-country skiers, there are many resources, particularly the Mt. Shasta Nordic Center, located just a mile from Mt. Shasta Ski and Board Park.
Sledding: All winter long, you’ll be able to enjoy unstructured snow play, yet one particularly fun destination nearby is Snowman’s Hill, maintained by the Forest Service and located just across High 89 from the Ski and Board Park.

Hiking: Mt. Shasta and all the mountains nearby offer an endless variety of hikes, for every level of hiker.  On  Shasta itself there’s Horse Camp, Gray Butte, South Gate Meadows/Squaw Valley, Red Butte Loop, Clear Creek, Ash Creek Falls, Brewer Creek, North Gate and more.  Nearby are McCloud River Preserve, McCloud River Falls, Squaw Valley Creek, Castle Dome, Castle Lake, Black Butte.  Plus, Mt. Lassen National Park is located near enough for an easy day trip.

Golfing:  Summer stretches out for sunny day after sunny day near Shasta, affording the golfer plenty of green time. 

Climbing:  A wonderful variety of climbing experiences is available for the climbing enthusiast.

Boating: With Shasta Lake , McCloud Reservoir, Copco Lake,  Lake Shastina, Iron Gate Reservoir and more nearby, you can find plenty of spots to put your oar in the water.

White water rafting and kayaking:  Of course!
